Permit from authorities astounds chiefpsychiatrist
A manager that is convicted on drugcrimes when he was working at Narconon and lacking proper education deemed good enough merits despite authorities own strict demands for qualifications on similar posts. Assistant chief psychiatrist, Ulf Brettstam, states that authorities has made an U-turn in this case, and critizises the decision from authorities to grant permission to the planned Narcononcentre at Lättarp.
The ruling astounds Ulf Brettstam. He thinks authorities has made an U-turn in the view of how demands on competence and quality normally is set. On december 30:th last year, the proposed new manager on a similar treatmentcentre for troubled mothers and their children, was denied permission due to the fact of lacking education and competence.
- In the case of the Narcononmanager, authorities chooses to disregard the fact that he is lacking the proper education and testyfied personal suitability for the post as demanded from the National Board of Health and Wellfare. The fact that same manager is convicted for drugcrimes during the time he was employed at Narconon, does obviously not make him unsuitable as manager for a treatmentcentre for drugaddicts, according to the ruling from authorities. On the contrary, his former employment in Narconon is deemed compensatory to his lack of proper education. A completely amazing conclusion, is Ulf Brettstams opinion.
The local community board of wellfare has stated to authorities that the lack of academic competence is disqualifying, a statement that had no baring on the ruling from authorities. According to Ulf Brettstam , the board ruling is totally in line with the regional authority and the National Board of Health and Wellfare official policy on standards.
- The fact that the regional authorities in this case, without a rational review on content, are taking the Narconon information at face value on behalf of their wellknown , ordinarily co-working partners in supervision and their investigation and analyze of this case, is utterly confusing, says Ulf Brettstam.
Last fall he personally filed an investigation of his own to the authorities, an investigation he says, is confirming the doubts of the quality of care within Narconon.
- Damaging critic has repetedly been filed against the Narcononcentres outside Huddinge and Eslöv , by the regional authorities there, a critic concerning quality and security as well as lacking of competence in staff and management, Ulf Brettstam points out.
